This is a 14inch X 1.5 yard (35.56cm X 1.37m) long piece of light weight deadstock cotton( new but unsold stock) from the 1970's; This was made as promotional item for a Sumo wrestler Mihogaseki (Family name of a 9th generation sumo wrestler). Patterns are on both sides, lengthwise thick stripes with squares at angles lengthwise as well; Larger characters on left are the name, the smaller ones mean 9th generation; This grade cotton is the sort used to make summer kimono (called a yukata); Fabric is strong, like new, no color fade and is still firm; Colors: Black w/hint of indigo & off-white. Recommended for quilters or any variety of creative applications.
