Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk is a 1980s piece from a woman's formal kimono; the fabric background is soft-white with bold, brightly colored motifs of decorated fans, multi-colored cranes in flight, large mums and other flowers as well as decorative cord and tassels; most of the designs have metallic silver and gold as accents, probably appliqued; As for colors: There is a predominance of dark and bright reds and orange, but full use of all colors on the spectrum ( Please see closeups) designs on one side only; slightly textured, chirimen-like; minimal sheen, nice weighted drape.
