Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Lightweight silk is a 1980s piece from a woman's kimono; the fabric background is solid cream color; the Motif theme is large temari balls ( 5 inches / 12.7cm diameter), with all sorts of classic flowers & leaves designs, as well as streamers or banners cascading cursively for the length of the piece: these streamers have small mesh patterns, some hooked appearance; As for colors: There is a predominance of reds, vermillion, and orange; other colors: salmon, purple, greens, yellows, pink, lavender, purple and silver; designs on one side only; slightly textured, resembling chirimen, minimal sheen, slight drape.
