Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Medium-weight 1960s silk kimono (furisode) fabric, the background color is a gradation of off-white, pale pink, and pale blue, but most of the field of the fabric is filled with the sweeping designs of flower groups with ferns and other grasses, leaves etc. (Please see close-ups); the motif is also filled with striking interwoven fine golden metallic (shiny) threads;  fabric is special in that it has very fine metallic gold color threads interwoven throughout which causes a glitter look throughout the fabric, varying with differing lighting; textured to the touch due to the interwoven metallics; Also, the fabric has a very slight elastic quality; Colors of designs are salmon reds to dep reds, with light pastel reds and mustard colors; the large flowers central to the ikebana clusters are in rusty-red and lighter hues of same;

Recommended for making scarf and accessories, or Display.
