- Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s to 1950s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
- Fabric Description: Fabric is a lightly translucent lightweight Meisen silk, summer kimono type; the background is dark brown with a touch of olive-green; Motifs are of rectangular shapes: 7 inches(17.78cm) X 3 inches(7.62cm) oriented vertically, and others (horizontal) at 7.5 inches(19.05cm) X 5 inches(12.7cm); the rectangles have white backgrounds with ornate medallions with floral look inside; also, running lengthwise (warp/vertically) please note the geometric figures creating lines running as three columns, .5 inch/12.7mm wide; design colors are mostly earth tones within the medallions: tan, brown, peach and 2 small accents: burgundy-red and coral-blue; This piece same on both sides; slight sheen.

There's even a term for these girls -- not surprisingly they are called "kimono girls." There are even some nice books documenting the trend which you can check out at J-List and are definitely worth having if you are at all into fashion.
