Item Details and Description:

  • Fabric History/Pedigree:   lightweight deadstock kimono cotton (new but unsold stock) estimated from the 1960s; This is cotton used to make a kimono (called a yukata); not the thinner bathhouse type fabric; Acquired in a partial roll.

  • Fabric Description: This is an unusual use of stripes and pinstriped woven cottons rendered to create a checkerboard-like pattern, even as fabric uses interwoven pinstripes throughout; Fabric is soft, rather light, and moderately translucent; Looked at under bright light you can see that pinstripes run throughout the entire fabric, mostly vertically (top-bottom) but some scattered single pinstripes across (see close-ups), though color bands are accentuated by brighter color pinstripes between them, and are in alternating different backgrounds this fabric is marked by rectangular groups but they are all fuzzy boundaries due to the spike look on some of the lines;  Colors are subtle and range from dark moss greens to several brown and chocolate shades with some blue-gray fields as well; the vertical accent pinstripes are in reds, burnished silver and yellows(mustard), with a few horizontals being yellows. Most interesting fabric.

  • Condition:  Excellent.

Note:  If purchasing multiple yardages, will be sent in an uncut piece.
