Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: This is very thin and lightweight summer kimono silk with, translucent black background with a most distinctive motif of bright vermillion( shuiro) color - and a few white/pale-blue - lateral strokes that, to us, look like flowing volcanic lava, therefore, characterized as modernistic/abstract; There are also very thin one-line edging accents in metallic gold(print process) on random strokes; motif designs on one side; please view close-ups;
