Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor (Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, expert on Japanese textiles HERE .)
Fabric Description: This distinctive Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a lightweight pongee-type silk that is made from tan and several shades of amber to mustard, olive-green, and rusty-brown colors; Colors are certainly Autumn types, and the designs are of leaves (we're unsure what bush/tree they're from); fabric is slightly translucent and designs same on both sides; smooth but with some 'nibs' along the weft, as part of the tsumugi process; slight sheen.
Colors: Reminder that colors differ on each device so please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the look of this piece.
Condition: Excellent.
