Fabric Description: This distinctive piece is thicker, a medium-weight meisen silk, somewhat stiff, estimated from the 1930s-1950s; Meisen is defined literally as 'common silk stuff'; and has grown in popularity in the last few years; Meisen from that period are usually larger bold patterns, with a fuzzy look to designs, and most often use brighter colors, but this one, however, is more subdued in color choices, and has a gray background with obliquely-angled geometric shapes; these shapes are arranged as in a modern tilework walkway or flooring pattern, most unusual for this time; the entire fabric has very tiny squared warp/woof lines (only visible upon very close inspection), these sort of pixels cause a fuzzy hazy look from a distance; Most of the tile-like figures are in a burgundy-red with black and a few mustard-yellow colored shapes.
