Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s silk fabric pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is lightweight silk derived from a woman's kimono, the slightly translucent fabric is a lighter ivory, with a cream-white background that is interwoven with pinwheel-type swirl patterns on a large scale, rendering the fabric a textured rougher feel; there are 3 large striking modernistic spider mums made from metallics embroidered threads of silver, gold and also rusty-red, gray, black and white (Please see closeups); designs intended as one side, with the underside having the loose threads of the embroidered areas; The design of these 3 spider mums are distinctly modernistic, elegant to our eye; slight drape; quite a distinctive piece.

About Pictures:  Please NOTE that colors and contrast differ on each device so please use our text descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric.
