Fabric Description:  Lightweight, fine, almost sheer meisen silk,  translucent,  is estimated from the 1930s-1950s; Meisen is defined literally as 'common silk stuff'; and has grown in popularity in the last few years; Meisen from that period are usually larger bold patterns and bright colors, hjowever this is rather unique in that the entire background is interwoven with very fine, small checkerboard designs, elements are 3/16 inch /4.76 mm square, with parallel bands (just under 1 inch/2.54cm wide) running lengthwise (warp); Background is black color with the columns in mustard-yellow, silver-gray, burgundy-red, navy and dark blue; same on both sides;  please see close-ups.
