Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Medium-lightweight silk is a 1980s piece from a woman's kimono; the fabric background is cream color but with a tinge of pink; all designs are in bright metallic gold interwoven brocade filling the fabric; the Motif theme is a classic combination of clouds, streams, bamboo fences, trees, leaves, flowers; designs on one side only and on reverse the frayed threads of the brocade gold are everywhere; fabric has slight drape, little sheen, aside from the glittering of all the metallic gold brocade.
